About the Artist
I was born and raised in an intentional community in Tennessee, called The Farm. My parents have always encouraged me to express myself through art. I made my first beaded bracelet at the age of five with my mother while she made beautiful beaded belts on a loom almost as big as I was. I have always loved turning simple beads into smile-inducing wearable art.
My craft evolves as I refine techniques. With my children now in college, I have more time to create. Some pieces are intricate and time-consuming, some are more immediate. I find solace and fulfillment in crafting beautiful jewelry from simple beads.
My inspiration stems from nature; birds, flowers, the way the sun sets in the sky, the ocean waves, a beautiful mountain range, or forest of trees. Sometimes my inspiration comes from the music I am listening to and how it makes me feel. I craft unique jewelry primarily with glass seed beads, sometimes adding crystals or precious stones for that special touch. Techniques include stringing, stitching (like peyote or herringbone), weaving, and netting. I use nylon thread or, when needed, Fire Line beading thread or beading wire. Metal finishes like clasps, jump rings, and accent beads are incorporated as needed.
Jewelry is a powerful form of self-expression, capable of making a statement, enhancing beauty, completing an outfit, and boosting self-confidence. It adds that extra touch to let your personality shine. My creations are designed with this purpose in mind. They are versatile pieces meant for everyday wear, not just special occasions. While they exude elegance, they are not meant to be flashy. Each piece is crafted with the hope that wearing it will bring a smile to someone's face and boost their self-esteem. The knowledge that my creations can bring happiness fuels my passion for crafting more.
